| Board game play is the game based on board game toys. Board game play has important value for young children. Now more and more kindergartens have been equipped with board game toys in class, however, we still know little about the current situation of the equipment and utilization of board game toys in kindergarten. In order to promote board game play, it's necessary to make an investigation on it. And also for the children in board game play, the understanding of abilities they show us can give teacher references on how to guide young children's board game play appropriately.Accordingly, this research carried out in two ways:first surveys the current situation of board games in kindergarten using questionnaire, based on this, then make an analysis of board games for kindergarten on practical level. At the same time, observing 18 middle-and-top class children playing flying chess in designated context, hoping to conclude the ability developments by analyzing the cognitive and social factors showed in their play behaviors.The survey on board game toys shows that:most of middle and top classes in kindergartens have been equipped with board game toys, however, at a low standard. Some toys are not suitable for children. The board game toys made by teacher themselves are main components. For the utilization, most of board game plays appear in corner play setting, sometimes they can be integrated into kindergarten teaching work. And though teachers approve at the value of board game, neglecting also exists. The further analysis on cases of board games show the contents of the toy and the rules of games are two important points of deciding whether they are suitable for children.The research on children's behavior during playing board game shows that: children's abilities to play have correlation with children's understanding of rules and based on that, the math ability, sociable interacting and the use of strategy. Both children in middle and top class can move along the path by the dots on the die, however, children in top class can mark each step without the help of language or finger movements; They all basically follow rules during the game, but children in top class actively intervened if another player violating the rules by correcting them; and children at the top class gradually show the loss of egocentrism.According to these findings, suggestions on board game toys equipment in kindergarten and the guidance for teacher in board game play have been given at the end of thesis, such as increasing the number of toys and promoting mix-age activities in board game play. |
