The Research Of Mobile Learning Models Supported By 3G Technology

At the end of 2009, the mobile phone users of China had reached 726 million, such a large user group provided the vigorous development of mobile learning with a fertile soil. Mobile learning has become the new development trends and hot spots of distance education, especially after the introduction of 3G in China, a transition trend form wired network to wireless network is intensified. According to "the 25th China Internet Development Statistics Report", the number of net citizens of mobile phone had reached 233 million, China has possessed the technical conditions and physical infrastructure to carry out mobile learning.Mobile learning is a new development stage of distance education, and it is a product when the devices and network technology of wireless mobile communication became mature. Its main feature is to learn freely with "Anyone Anytime Anywhere Anystyle" which named 4A-style. It is helpful to satisfy people's learning requirements, to balance the educational resources, to build a learning community. Especially for a large developing country such as China, a lot of pressure on people to learn, the autonomous and flexible mobile learning can meet people learning requirements at anytime. Mobile learning has a special meaning and value for economic development and education of China.It is also a purpose of lifelong learning for everyone, lifelong learning and building a learning society.This paper analyzed the context, significance and technical features of mobile learning which were based on 3G technology, and studied the necessity and feasibility of mobile learning at first, and then on this basis, described the mobile learning models which were based on short message and PTT,the mobile learning models which were based on the wireless network connection ,the mobile learning models which were based on Mobile TV and video, as well as mobile learning models which were based on games in detail, and combined with case to describe the mobile learning. Finally, summarized and prospected the development of mobile learning.As a new approach learning, Mobile learning is still very young, it is yet to be further researched in many areas by us, but one thing is certain: as a very important complement of a traditional education, as a very important part of the whole educational system, mobile learning will give us a better future of our education with tremendous freedom.
