Content In the 21st century,"the century of selection", the conflict and integration among different values have become a common phenomenon in our society. People tend to face frequent moral conflicts under the background of value diversification, so how to make the correct choice from different types of value has become indispensable for one to survive and develop. Therefore, to foster college students'ability of moral selection has become a new per suit of moral education in colleges and universities, an unavoidable choice in order to enhance the effectiveness of moral education under the background of value diversification, a new request of college students whose subject awareness is getting stronger, and an important routine by which they can resolve moral conflicts properly, perfect their personalities continually, and eventually realize the free and comprehensive development.Aimed at improving college students'virtue and developing their subjectivity in the environment where various values exist, this paper mainly discusses how school education on morality can help cultivate the ability of college students to make the right selection. The thesis is divided into five parts as follows:The first part introduces the raise of this issue, its significance, the present achievements at home and abroad, research ideas and frameworks and research methods.The second part discusses in detail the relevant theories about the ability of moral selection, and clarify the concept and connotation of both moral selection and the capability of moral selection, and then analyzes the elements which form the capability of moral selection, i.e., thinking ability before selecting, the ability of implementation during the process of selecting, the ability of reflection after selecting.The third part analyzes the necessity of cultivating college students'ability of moral selection, and elaborates the issue from three aspects, including the objective conditions of value diversitification, the subjective need of college students to improve their own virtue, and the approaches through which colleges and universities might be able to deal with new challenges. The fourth part describes objectively such problems as irrationality and ineffective cooperation that exist in the present moral education, and at the same time analyzes the main reasons that is, traditional moral education overemphasizes knowledge but lacks of humanity, and only exists as a separate space-time activity.The fifth part explores from the practical level methods to cultivate the ability to make choices independently, and put for word several plausible strategies from the following four aspects respectively: student-centered concept and the innovative teaching methods, the content of the moral education and practice, the value guidance and self-selection principle, the influence of social environment and family atmosphere.The final part points out that cultivating college students'ability of moral selection is a complicated and urgent project that needs the concerted effort of schools, families and the society.
