With the concept and the work that have been developed of building a harmonious society, not only do we realize the importance of harmony to the economy and the society, but also to the politics.Thereby, on top of the economic development, we also have to constantly improve our democratic development.The first thing we need to do to enhance our democratic development is improve our general public's political participation which is the core of modern democracy, promoting positive political participation will be able to protect all citizen's rights and the effective operation of democratic institutions.The concept of political participation, its modalities and influential factors have been extensively researched by the academe, a lot of different points of view have also been created.Based on various research results from both domestic and foreign scholars in this field, as well from an educational point of view, this study has collected relevant data and conducted statistical analysis via spss16.0. It has demonstrated the influence of education on urban residents'political participation.This article has made an in-depth analysis of three types of political participation, political parties'application, community's committee elections and participation in collective protests, hence educed a number of research findings.The research shows that: the educational level has a significant impact on people's behaviors of applying for a political party; there is a distinct discrepancy between people's voting behaviors based on their education history; there is a remarkable influence on people's behaviors of participating in collective protests.
