Under the background of globalization, countries all over the world have actively promoted the reform of basic curriculum. As the representative of developed countries, Germany is highly evaluated for its well developed secondary education system and organized curriculum design. Choosing German curriculum as the main subject of this paper is based on my study experience in Germany and the fact that few scholars have studied German chemistry curriculum in China. This paper mainly focuses on the study of literature overview, German high school chemistry curriculum syllabus and textbook, trying to dig in the design of "subject ability" and the characteristics of German high school chemistry course. The main target of this paper is to absorb the advantages of German chemistry course to improve our own country's course design. The research methods used in this paper are literature-method, comparative-method, and statistics-method etc.Firstly, the model of "subject ability" which mainly involving three abilities is established by researching on domestic and foreign literature overview and comprehensive analysis of berlin, hessian, bavarian's curriculum syllabus. Secondly, two abilities in the model are chosen as the key research subjects. Then, concrete analysis of the syllabus and the mainstream textbook "chemsitry today" is combined to discover the detail design and the feature of the two key abilities. Finally, the research of the "subject ability" combining curriculum syllabus and textbook is concluded with the characteristics of German high school chemistry curriculum to inspire China's curruculum reform.
