Firstly, I think the purpose of mathematics is to solve problems, but solving mathematical problems can not carry on without the guidance of a certain way of thinking--"The combination of number and shapee", which is considered as a kind of old but young way of thinking. In recent decades, this theory has been more and more popular with the majority of mathematics educators and students of all the ages, and then in the problem-solving it itself has played a strong and magica role, and even it has been vigorous development of its own until now, showing a kind of its own unique charm.Secondly, in this paper, I present the development of sources of the theory, and the definition of the concept according to the references to the vast literature; by means of detailed typical examples of the use of it, I also represent great significance of the method to solve maths problems by thinking, application of the principles and the types; what's more,correct people's way of thinking about this one-sided understanding of the theory, and at the same time I put forward the limitations of the traditonal applying idea in it.At last, to know the use of "a combination of high school," method to solve the problems, I have done practical survey to several high schools in our city by means of the practical investigations and the combination of cases analysis and interviews,;as a result,I have found : generally,students have one-sided understanding, which is considered that shape is more important than number, and can't develop the advantage of number; students do basically different levels of understanding to the combination of number and shape;they get more recognition for its advantages However, their actual operation in the consciousness of shape is not very strong and their capacity and skills of appling the shape remian to be improved. In the end,according to my survey and research,, I analysise, research into it, and put forward my thinkings and suggestions.
