The traditional grammar-translated method of teaching can no longer meet the requirements of the new curriculum reform or the status of the increasingly frequent international exchanges. In order to change this situation, the mode of English teaching should be broadened and authentic language materials should be excavated to promote active learning. While the application of English movie in teaching can make students experience the authentic language by themselves and perceive their own language as well. It can also develop their personality, open their eyes to the world and most importantly, improve their spoken English and listening skills.Supported by three major theories, such as Input Hypothesis, Output Hypothesis and Affective Filter Hypothesis, how to use original film in English class according to relevant research home and abroad was investigated. First, the film should be selected carefully. Second, the teaching should be designed carefully. Of course, we can make specific adjustments during our teaching. This study started in the first semester of 2009 school year for students from Grade 7 and Grade 8 in a middle school in Wenzhou. After a semester of study, software spss17.0 is used to give comparative analysis of English post-test results from the experimental group and the control group students. The result says in Grade 7, the post-test scores of the experimental group students are significantly higher (p<0.05)than that of the control group. And in Grade 8, the result is the same(p<0.01). Questionnaires and interviews were also used to get more data. And then some of the factors were chosen to give single-factor analysis of variance with the post-test results to see if the factors can influence the results. According to the analysis, the author found out that in Grade 7 the experimental group preference of English language significantly (p<0.01)impacted on students'academic achievement. The acceptance degree of this course and the view of improving listening skills also significantly (p <0.01) impacted on students'academic achievement. While in other areas, their attitude can't influence their academic achievement at all. In Grade 8, only the acceptance degree of this course a significantly (p <0.05) impacted on students'academic achievement. The result indicated that the starts of Teaching through Movie Watching should be earlier in junior secondary school.Students got better English grades after this study. Their interest and self-confidence have also increased. Students became more active in learning English.
