The latest English Curriculum Criteria of Secondary Education stipulates English movie appreciation as an optional course. It is a meaningful job to undertake a project on the course. Based on the author's experimental work on this course, the thesis is meant to study the teaching aim, contents, implementation, and evaluation, etc, so as to make a scientific, effective and feasible teaching design. The design in this thesis can be used to guide teaching practice in senior high schools.The theories of Constructivism and the Input Hypothesis of S.Krashen are employed to illustrate the importance of the current humanistic education to increase the cross-cultural awareness and to make an integral person. English movie class as an optional course in senior high schools can be the very vehicle to boost up study interest, broaden span of view, improve the students' personalities as well as their linguistic competence, which shows the necessity and importance of developing English movie class.
