| The Deutsche-Chinesische Hochschule is the first Sino-foreign cooperative university in China, initiated by Chinese and German governments in 1909 and destroyed in the war in 1914, existed for merely five years. It systemically promoted German modern university system in our higher education field. During that period, the school had achieved great success because of its luxuriant teaching equipments, strong faculties and advanced management model, therefore, it made tremendous impact not only on Shandong, but even on the whole country. Established by Germany and China, the typical and representative school inspired the idea of running universities in China, and even now it also provided some guiding significance to us.This thesis focuses on the school's running details and operation modes. It is a systematic study on the birth, growth and closing of the school as well as its characteristics and active effects to the society at that time. Mission prohibition, advanced concept, unification of classroom knowledge and practical skills, teaching according to actual needs, and the school made a good social services. In addition, the school pay attention to the theoretical combination of Chinese and Western,"traditional Chinese values as the base, western learning as an aid"as its schooling guild line, this ensured the heritage of Chinese Confucianism on the one hand, and systematically learned the modern scientific technological knowledge on the other hand. Just because of the existence of this asymmetrical advantages, the school earned a good reputation in a short time, became a model for other schools. The school's success, not only conformed to the actual needs of society, but also enriched our education style, promoted the modernization of higher education in China, made a far-reaching impact. |
