Hunan's modern vocational education development plays an important role in the vocational education development across the country. Although it started relatively late, but it developed rather fast and has distinct features. Hunan's modern vocational education has gained great achievements both in the aspects of quality and quantity. Doing a comprehensive research about the development of Hunan's modern vocational education from the perspective of history and education can help us understand and evaluate its development more objectively and strengthen the understanding of the distinct characteristics of Hunan's local education.The paper is divided into four parts:The first Chapter is the analysis about the historical background under which Hunan's modern vocational education came into being. During that time, the industrial education had gained further development, the thoughts of "Save the nation through industrial development" pervaded among people, and modern new-style schools emerged in Hunan, which all contributed to the emergance of Hunan's modern vocational education.The second Chapter is description about the development of Hunan's vocational education development from 1902 to 1937. This period is further divided into four historical stages. By employing a writing method of both narration and argumentation, this part has made conclusions about the performance and features of Hunan's vocational education development during each period and do some analysis about the causes respectively.The third chapter is an overall evaluation about Hunan's modern vocational education development, and also a conclusion about its historical significance. In this chapter, vocational education's contribution to Hunan's modern economy's development is affirmed. Vocational education also promotes the changes of Hunan people's mentality and speed up the improvement of Hunan's educational structure.In the fourth chapter, the Inspiration that our current vocational education development can draw from Hunan's vocational education development is revealed. Through the reflection of Hunan's vocational education development, together with the status quo of the present vocational education development in our country, a few main problems are pointed out. And four suggestions about the vocational education development in our country is offered:first, the government conduct should be improved and strengthened and the macro adjustment should be strengthened as well; second, all social forces should be mobilized to improve the initiative of establishing schools; third, major establishment should be strengthened in light of social demand.; fourth, teaching reforms should be accelerated and the competitiveness of the students on the job market of students should be improved.
