The development of information technology makes the explosive growth of human knowledge, and also makes human face the severe challenge of mastering knowledge at the same time. The traditional way of education and learning did not match the learning needs. Therefore, we must find new ways to enhance people's access to knowledge access and efficiency. Knowledge visualization is an emerging comprehensive complex multi-disciplines involved in field of research which developed on the basis of scientific computing visualization, data visualization and information visualization. Knowledge Visualization major study to use visual means in two or more of expression between the creation and transmission of knowledge to improve the role of visualization. In recent years, knowledge visualization has been widely used in knowledge access, communication, assessment and daily management, etc. Knowledge visualization has a pivotal role in helping people to improve learning performance and effective solution to such issues as information overload. In education, knowledge visualization also has great development potentials. It's proved by teaching practice that:knowledge visualization can not only contribute to the presentation and delivery of instructional information, but also to a large extent to help students rebuild their knowledge so as to enhance the effect of education. Therefore, it is much necessary for us to make more and deeper research in the application of knowledge visualization in instruction, in order to give full play to its promoting role in instruction.In this paper, at first, the relevant literatures of knowledge visualization at home and abroad in recent years are overviewed, and describe the three classification methods of knowledge visualization in abroad, summarized and analyzed the features of knowledge visualization domestic and international, points the current internal research of knowledge visualization has inadequate such as the theoretical research is still lack, the instructional application form a single, combined application of a lack and so on. Through the combing of related theory of knowledge visualization such as dual-coding theory, knowledge management theory, schema theory and the theory of knowledge of brain research, and the discussions to the relationships between working memory and visual ability of human. Secondly, introduces respectively the functions and features of knowledge visualization tool softwares and online platforms, then comparisons these softwares and platforms. From this, found that knowledge visualization tools have fully functional, well compatibility and wide range application, then knowledge visualization platforms for online file sharing and online collaboration capabilities in the promotion of the role of instruction is particularly prominent. Based of these, from the use of knowledge visualization to improve the working memory, facilitating knowledge transfer and supporting knowledge rebuild, this paper put forward three kinds of application strategies of knowledge visualization. Finally, combination of the instructional practices in National Essential Courses of "Modern Educational Technology", take " the application of mind mapping, tree diagram", "the applications of concept map, double bubble map and VN Figure composite " and " the application of collaborative visualization site" for examples, design three application types of cases in instruction:single knowledge visualization methods, combination of knowledge visualization methods and collaborative knowledge visualization methods.
