Reading is the main way to study and the final goal to study. Facing the age of information, it is very important for young people to be trained reading ability .English curriculum standards of senior high school has been regarding the improvement of reading ability as the important teaching aims. The improvement of reading ability may cause the improvement of listening, speaking and other skills to a large extent. English teachers have been focusing on English teaching. But during the practical teaching, we gradually find some disadvantages in the reading class, because reading costs the most time and teachers explain most, reading effect has not been ideal. In order to improve traditional model of English reading lessons and students'reading ability , to let students grasp the ability of independent study and adjust to social development, it's necessary for us to research senior students'English reading strategies, especially about Metacognitive Strategies that played a program of learning, monitoring. So the writer hope the study is able to give numbers of English teachers a little inspiration and make contribution to senior English teaching.Based on current research status at home and abroad, the majority of Chinese linguists mainly pay close attention to university students about the research of metacognitive strategies, but care little about middle school English reading. In the writer's opinion, good reading habits should be developed from the early period on. In addition, study shows that English reading strategies have an important effect on English reading score, of which Metacognitive strategies are the primary factors for their scores. Metacognitive strategies are the high-level implementation of skills, which can plan, monitor and evaluate study activity. They can also enable learners to control the learning process, which have internal directional skills , guide students'attention,memory,thinking and directly influence originality and effectiveness of learners'thought.The article is about an Empirical research on use of students'English reading strategies from Senior School. The aim is to survey some intermediate English learners'use of reading strategies and discuss the use of reading metacognitive strategies on the level of English reading.
