With the continued integration of the Internet in people's lives, and the diverse changes between the supply and demand of learning, the way people learn has been not only limited to the classroom or other organized trainings. By the diverse demand of society, the learning situation learners facing has also changed: our schools can no longer develop a unified standard, unified specification graduates, but shape the practitioners in all areas in accordance with the requirements of society, and make a diversified, individualized professional development. Meanwhile, the classroom as the main channels for knowledge acquisition can no longer meet the needs of learners. They need to continuously develop more learning channels, that is to learn anytime and anywhere to get the knowledge and skills needed in the society. This requires us to change the current education, teaching and learning methods to solve the problem of such a diverse learning needs. In order to meet the different learning needs of different people, the informal learning has become a very important learning form. It is particularly important to do the informal learning using network environment as the development of network technology. This article discusses the informal learning ways and mode in the network based on the longtail theory, which comes from the relation between the longtail theory and the informal learning. Main research contents are as follows:The part of introduction introduces the background of this study and research status about the informal learning and the longtail theory in and abroad. It tells the purpose, the theoretical value and practical value of this study. The first part focuses on the connotation of informal learning and its theoretical basis. Including the concepts of informal learning and formal learning and distinguish the characteristics of informal learning and the theoretical supports on which the informal learning can exist and develop. Then, it tells what the longtail theory is and its basic concept. The second part analyzes the current informal learning problems through the investigation and research methods. The surveys are mainly by means of sending out questionnaires, online surveys, and interviews with field visits. The people being investigated mostly are college students, vocational skills training institutes and enterprises staff. The article analyses the survey data and then generalizes the current problems of informal learning in the network. The third part analyses the feasibility of constructing the informal learning mode in the network based on the longtail theory. First, it analyses the connection between the longtail theory and informal learning and the connotations of the informal learning in the network based on the longtail theory. The final analysis of the construction feasibility is mainly from the development status of China's network and several fundamental conditions of longtail theory. The forth part constructs the informal learning mode in the network based on the longtail theory. It is the key part of paper. The normal learning mode in the network as a reference, this part describes the constituent elements of the mode. Following the nine principles of the longtail theory, it tells the key principles to build such a mode to be followed. Finally, it is the mode construction and analysis instructions. The construction includes these function parts: requirements analysis, personalized recommendations, learning options, learning aids, learning resources selection and learning behavior memories. The last part is the conclusion. It explains the research findings and deficiencies of this study and plans the follow-up study.
