| As an important means to encourage the meaningful study among the students, the concept map is used to organize and describe the knowledge. The concept map plays an important role in the research of the teaching and learning strategy.In order to understand the influence on the learning attitude, learning interest and learning result in the individual learning among the students of junior high students in the subject of biology, two classes of the same grade were chosen from Baotou No. 45 Middle School as the research subjects. By randomly defining one class as the experiment class and the other as comparison class, the teacher used the method of the mind map in the experiment class and the traditional teaching method in the other class for one semester. Investigations were made before and after the experiment among the students concerning the learning attitude and learning interest as well as the use of the mind map by means of survey and discussion. In addition, an examination was given to the students of these two classes and a comparison was made concerning the result of the examination. Through analyzing the students' performance according to their level and gender, the following findings are obtained.1. The average examination score of the experiment class is much higher than that of the comparison class. This is especially obvious in the memory of the knowledge. In terms of the understanding and the application of the knowledge, there exists little difference between these two classes.2. The concept mapping strategy is effective in improving the performance of the students of all groups, namely, high achievers, average students and poor achievers.3. The method is effective in improving both male and female students' performance. 4. The learning attitude and the learning interest of these two classes do not display obvious differences.This research has proved that the concept map is very effective in improving the students' academic performance, especially in improving the students' memorizing ability. However, this method does not prove very effective in influencing the student's interest and attitude in learning. Further research should be done to find the effectiveness of this method in helping the students of different level and the different gender. |
