Positive Psychology became a hot subject of psychology research in the1990s. More researchers began to pay attention to subject-well being of people and the problem of positive personality. Self-concept is a very important element of personality structure. On the basis of Rogers' humanistic theory, it assumes self-esteem to be the discrepancy between ideal self and actual self. Ideal self means the characteristics and status an individual hope to own. While actual self means the characteristics and status an individual has already possessed. University students are at the key stage of self-concept integration. The results of psychology research suggest that animportant reason why there are psychological problems among university students lies in excess imbalance between ideal self and actual self.This article mainly employs the approach of general self-esteem scale,life satisfaction scale and questionnaire on university students'discrepancy between ideal self and actual self to find out the relationship between self-discrepancy and self-esteem, life satisfaction. It also explore to what extent physical exercise intervention will have the psychological effect on reducing university students'self-discrepancy as well as enhancing their life satisfaction which will enrich psychological intervention theory in turn. Providing foundation for the psychological education of university students, it can improve healthy education of them.The results of this survey suggest that:1)among the kinds of factors of self-discrepancy, it is glamour self-discrepancy that has the highest average shares, while the self-discrepancy in family, school work, relationship, sentiment and morality came in the next place.2)university students'self-discrepancy shows a significantly negative correlation with general self-esteem and life satisfaction. 3)general self-esteem is the most important variable which influence life satisfaction and it contributes most to the prediction of life satisfaction. Family self-discrepancy came secondly. There are significant gender effect when predict life satisfaction throughgeneral self-esteem, family discrepancy and glamour self-discrepancy.4)there are significant gender, grade, specialty and hometown differences when it comes to self-discrepancy. There are significant gender, grade, specialty differences regarding life satisfaction. There are significant hometown differences in the average score when it comes to general self-esteem.5)the students who attends physical exercises regularly have a higher average score of general self-esteem and life satisfaction than those who don't. However their average score of self-discrepancy is lower. The way of the exercise has an influence on the improvement of self-discrepancy. Different training items have notably different effect on self-discrepancy.The research results of this article indicate:1)physical exercise can greatly reducing the level of self-discrepancy, especially relation, school work, sentiment and glamour self-discrepancy. Then it can raise the life satisfaction of university students. 2)physical exercise has a bigger influence on female college students than male college students. Particularly, the female students'variation value of morality, sentiment and glamour self-discrepancy is much higher than that of male students.
