Culture Teaching In Senior High Schools-Focusing On Advance With English

Language and culture are inseparable. Language is not just a set of sign system, but also the main expression of culture. The relation between language and culture should be given enough value in English teaching. In the process of English teaching, cultural teaching plays a very important role.The textbook studied here are the eleven modules of Advance with English (Yilin-Oxford edition). Each volume in the series is organized in terms of unit, which consists of seven parts, welcome to the unit, reading, word power, grammar and usage, task, project and self-assessment, which are subjected to quite a few social and cultural factors.The paper, based on the previous findings, begins with the relation between culture and English teaching. Then it points out some requirements for English teachers. It focuses on the importance and the ways to combine cultural teaching with English teaching when using Advance with English. It's hoped that the present study will help the English teachers improve their teaching approaches, and cultivate the cultural consciousness in students'minds and stimulate their interests in English learning.
