Professional quality of teachers is directly related to the upgrading of the quality of teachers, and teacher professional development is particularly important .With economic development, social progress, the development and quality of vocational education has also attracted widespread attention. The development of vocational education is the fundamental improvement of quality of the teaching profession, and we can say that the professional development of teachers is the key of high quality of vocational education. In this paper, it will study the teacher professional development of vocational education in the USA including the background, current status, theory and practice, etc, and combining with the outstanding problems of our vocational teachers , and gets the Enlightenment of promoting the professional development of vocational teachers in China.This paper includes four parts, which are introduction, general situation, theories and practice of the teacher professional development of vocational education in the USA, as well as the conclusion and implications.The first part poses the origin of the study, relevant studies, and study methodology, which give a foundation for following study.The second part presents an overview of teacher professional development of vocational education in the United States, including its definition, and the background of the professional development of vocational teachers.The third part studies theories and Practice of American teacher professional development of vocational education, including pre-service teachers, in-service teachers's training and professional development, and explores the professional development of teachers' theory based, the standard set, practice, as well as characteristics and issues of practice.The fourth part sums up the professional development of vocational education teachers in the United States . And it also briefly analyses the status of the professional development of vocational education teachers in China, to draw on the illumination of developing our vocational teacher professional development.
