| Among countries with many ethnic groups who speak different languages, scientific research on bilingual teaching is a vital issue that greatly concerns the development of national economy and intellectual and ideological progress. In today's world, whether developed or developing countries, for any purpose whatever, they mostly attach much importance to bilingual education and bilingual teaching. Since the early1990s, bilingual teaching has been arousing concern among school principals, teachers, parents and public from all walks of life in some coastal developed areas and large cities in China, and initiative experiments have been also carried out in several schools. In recent years, experimental conditions for selective and target-oriented Chinese-English bilingual teaching in elementary and secondary schools are becoming increasingly matured in regions with preferable conditions.As a bellwether for bilingual teaching experiment in the mainland, Shanghai has advantaged superiority in the economic condition, education basis, policy support, academia and social environment. To put forward bilingual teaching is a light spot in Shanghai's second curriculum reform as well. Because this is the first time that it has raised the requirement for high school students to basically grasp a foreign language and has made it clear that English learning is to become a natural part of students' life. Moreover, P.E. lesson has excellent qualifications to favoring English teaching as well as more intellection room compared to other theory lessons because of action demonstration which makes it easier for students to comprehend and remember the action and English words; it also makes the teaching environment close to nature, and to a real world. All these aspects, which are helpful in learning English, are what bilingual teaching of other subjects in the classroom has lacked.The thesis is based upon the needs to evolve an orderly and sound experiment on P.E. Chinese-English bilingual teaching of elementary and secondary schools in Shanghai, pointing out the difficulties and problems in the course of present P.E. bilingual teaching in Shanghai by means of documentary review, field survey, expert interview and statistic methods. Simultaneously, curriculum issues of P.E. Chinese-English bilingual teaching realistic to elementary and secondary schools in Shanghai are attempted to be discussed by exerting some relative theories on education science, curriculum theory and educational management and drawing successful experience from several countries and regions.Through investigation, a couple of problems spring out, such as P.E. bilingual teachers' quality, curriculum system, RE. practical bilingual textbooks, students' English levels, evaluation means, etc. Thus, such questions as teaching mode, subject damage and trueness of teaching are caused. Then the thesis focuses on the following seven aspects, concepts and viewpoints, selection and cultivation of bilingual teachers, choosing and development of textbooks, teaching and mode, evaluation and analysis, scientific research and administration, and environment establishment, and puts up with seven suggestions as follows, make use of English as a tool while based on P.E. teaching; put bilingual teachers management on combination of selection, cultivation and encouragement; choose proper textbooks scientifically and flexibly according to students' reality; draw teaching plan scientifically so as to optimize class structure; build reasonable evaluation standards to P.E. bilingual teaching; establish scientific research and administration system organized on bilingual teaching research center; create suitable and favorable environment of English learning to assist the management of bilingual teaching. |
