Social Capital's Modern Transformation In The Process Of Landless Peasants' Citizenization

With the acceleration of the urbanization process, peri-urban villages have been gradually incorporated into the scope of the Town planning. A large number of rural landhas been expropriated, thus there appears a new special social group——landlesspeasants.In comparison with the migrant workers actively working into the cities, due to the rapid expansion of urbanization, those landless peasants are passively involvement to the process of urbanization, and they aren't peasants longer in the traditional sense. Therefore, in order to make our county reaching into the true level of urbanization, becoming the true sense of the modern nation, it's inevitable trend to promote the peasant to the citizen and shape them modern consciousness, quality.In this paper, I select the perspective of the social capital theory on the issue of the landless peasants' citizenization. Trough analyzing the theory of social capital in general and in local, I consider that social capital as an informal system, its transition of the modern model and the landless peasants' citizenization are in the same process of symbiotic interaction. On the one hand, the meaning of social capital including social network, trust, norms, participation and cooperation, these four factors can provide us with specific indicators to measure the degree of the landless peasants' citizenization, and it's also an important public manifestation of their citizenization; On the other hand, social capital is an internal condition to promote the development of the landless peasant' citizenization. It's "self-enabling" force is in favor of the landless peasant regain social resources, self-development capacity, and to consciously achieve peasants' citizenization, and also it can form a concerted effort to promote the full realization of the landless peasants' citizenization with formal system.In such a theoretical idea in mind, this article has chosen the more developed, higher degree of urbanization, and the pilot city of revoking villages to built communities in ourcountry——Hangzhou. And set its suburb "Houzhou community" as an example to fieldinvestigate here peasant' the reality of social capital. I mainly use the research methods of participant observation and interview, in order to excavate deeply the exist problems of their social capital changing from the tradition pattern to the modern pattern, thus I discuss the paths of modern social capital beyond the tradition.
