Classification Of General Institutions Of Higher Learning Of Liaoning Province Based On The Layout Of Knowledge

In recent years,classification of(Higher Education Institutions) HEIs has gradually become a hot spot in higher education research.Actually it is not only a theoretical problem,but also a very practical problem.Scientific and reasonable classification of HEIs can help the government to guide the HEIs in a macroscopic and differentiated way,help the HEIs to find their correct orientations,cultivate their own special features and operate themselves autonomously in better response to the society,and it can also help all circles in the society to better understand and supervise the HEIs as well.Based on the Knowledge and Academy theory of Clark who is the famous American educator,the present paper utilize HEI's discipline distribution to reflect the whole knowledge distribution,then,put forward an integrated coefficient of knowledge distribution.Delphi method helps to define the integrated coefficient of different HEIs,which classify the general HEIs in Liaoning province into synthesis, multi-knowledge,and specialized three kinds of knowledge distribution types.The present paper gives a new perspective to study the classification of general HEIs.
