Housekeeping course includes aspects of students' daily lives,such as financial planning, knowledge of nutrition and health,interpersonal relations,love and marriage,baby education, comprehensive study,environmental protection,lifelong learning,interior decoration,cooking and floral arrangement etc..It aims at enhance the comprehensive quality of students and promote an overall development.As far as the setting of education curriculum in primary and middle schools around the world,Japan stands out with its higher disseminating level and a complete discipline construction.In China,we have not had a housekeeping course,which is only partially referred to in social course and labor technique course.Only Zhe Jiang province has set up a housekeeping course experimentally in primary and middle schools since 1988.Thus,housekeeping education sounds alien to most Chinese students,parents and teachers.The paper selects Japan the target of a research, which differentiates it into four periods according to the guiding ideologies respectively,namely,the experientialism,systematicalism,capabiliticism and the neo conservatism.The paper makes a thorough investigation about the postwar and current status quo of the housekeeping course in primary and middle schools of Japan in the hope of finding some restrictions that constrained the development of housekeeping course in China,hence providing some constructive suggestions for the discipline construction.
