This thesis focuses on teachers' role and sets the research in the specific script which is teaching organization. The change of teaching organizations influences teachers' instruction and teachers' specific performance is related to its concrete context. Thus this study explores teachers' role according to different teaching organizations which can clarify teachers' instruction in variable contexts, alleviating the role confliction and guiding teacher to the right way of teaching.Through historical and logical methods, this paper describes the evolution of teaching organization from traditional individual teaching, class teaching, group teaching to multiple-teaching. Based on above backgrounds, the teachers' role in different organizations is analyzed with the method of prosopography and is interpreted from two aspects: one is the role expectation under different teaching organizations and the other is the actual performances in specific cases.This study discusses teachers' role expectation and role performance among individual teaching, class teaching and group teaching. Based on above discussion, the teacher should accept different role regulations and show different intensity in instruction, control, moral influence in diverse organizations. The advantages and disadvantages of teachers' performance in each organization are also analyzed.According to the trend of historical development, this paper concludes that multi-teaching organization is the inevitable form. Moreover the role expectation and role performance in multiple contexts is analyzed through the case study and theoretical deduction. At last, this paper gives the suggestions about improving the development of teachers' role: reforming the functions of different teaching organizations, inspiring teachers' pedagogical understanding and teaching courage.
