A Study Of The Issues And The Relevant Solutions On The Bilingual Teaching Of Local College In Jilin Province

After joining WTO, we have been communicating with other countries frequently, and English has also been used widely. In our bus, our foreign trade, we browse the marketing information, the commercial negotiation, write the business letter and contract in English, and so on. In our scientific research, we retrieve the data, write the thesis, and deal with the academic exchange in English. Besides,"Some Suggestions on Strengthening the Regular College Teaching in Colleges and Universities and Promoting the Teaching Quality"from our Ministry of Education demands: in order to fit the development of economy, science and technology, and education properly after our entering WTO, we should create the conditions, introduce the foreign original textbooks, conduct the teaching in the common required and specialized course in English, try our best to reach 5%-10% of all the courses in English in three years to cultivate the high-quality and multiple talents , and attain the sustainable development of our higher education. Under such a new situation, based on the combination of English learning and its application, and the promotion of the students'comprehensive ability in English, so many colleges and universities,especially such key universities as Shanghai Transportation University, have begun trying bilingual courses, and have achieved some achievements. However, after making the surveys of some colleges in our countries, in particular, the local colleges, we know that although they have conducted the bilingual teaching, there are still some prominent issues, like lack of the bilingual teachers, the lower level of the students'English, the insufficient teaching resources, etc. Thus, we propose a problem"A Study of the Issues and the Relevant Solutions on the Bilingual Teaching of Local Colleges in Jilin Province--Taking One of the Colleges as an Example", which aims at probing into the relevant solutions according to the issues to urge the bilingual teaching in the local colleges in China.Prior to the main body of the dissertation, the introduction gives a brief account of the subject, the significance, the aims and the methods of the paper. This part also shows why such a subject is chosen and how the study will be carried out.The main body of the dissertation consists of 3 parts.Part I mainly introduces the bilingual teaching inside and outside. Part II describes some bilingual teaching theories and defines some relevant terms. Part III elaborates the misunderstandings in the bilingual teaching. Part IV analyzes the present situation of the bilingual teaching in the local college of Jilin Province. Part IV points out the issues and the relevant solutions on the bilingual teaching of local colleges in Jilin Province.
