Missionary University And The Development To Higher Education In Hunan And Hubei Provinces In Modern Times

Missionary education produced far-ranging and far-reaching effects on modern China. Now, what gradually becomes a hot spot on the historical circle and educational circle is studying missionary education. my paper switches the view of study to "missionary college and the development to higher education". From the perspective of education, my paper will display the influence that the missionary college has been and continue the passive impacts on higher education in Hunan and Hubei provinces, through studying the emergence, development and decline of the missionary college. Through studying the school mottos and rules of Modern Xiangya Hospital, Changsha Yali Middle School and Huazhong Normal Unversity.I analyzed, although missionary college disappeared, its spirit has influenced on the higher education in Hunan and Hubei provinces. On missionary college, my paper is from the point of education to make more objective and dispassionate review and analysis, to make a fair statement of history and draw an inspiration.In addition to the introduction,this article is divided into four parts.The main structure and content are as follows:Introduction to the first chapter:Clear the concrete object of study,and make a brief literature review about researchers at the University of the Church in recent years.Then,make clear the research mentality and the research content.Thirdly,introduces the research methodology of this study,and give accounts of the innovation of this study.There are three chapters in the second part. It mainly analyzes the history and special background of missionary university in Hunan province. And analyze the origin and early modernization of Hunan Higher Education through the investigation of the founding, operation, combination and disappearance of several missionary universities in Hunan province. The third part is the core and main body of this paper. This section can be divided into six chapters, and introduce the operation, the school system, personnel training, professional and curriculum development, teacher training and student learning and life management of missionary university respectively. By analyze of this, it reflects the early modernization of Hunan missionary university and the higher education of Hunan and Hubei province, and reveals the role that missionary university played in the early modernization of higher education.The key point of this paper lies in the forth part which also makes a conclusion. Through the case analysis of Xiangya Hospital, Changsha Yali Middle School and Huazhong Normal Unversity,we try to put a fair appraisal on the historic status of Hunan missionary university by studying their actions towards talent cultivated , acadamic study and social service, which influnce the higher education. We also get revelation from it.
