Pop music at middle school has been paid more attention by both the music teachers and the social public opinion circles. It also becomes a study in the music academic circles. However, some researches are superficial. They have neither discussed pop music at middle school from a cultural point of view, nor find out the problem in the pop music teaching. Most of those researches have neglected the subject in the pop music teaching process——the teacher.Questionnaire method is adopted in this thesis, which contains two parts. The first part mainly talks about theories that have been used. It analyzes how pop music influences the youth. The last part of this section explains the feasibility and necessity of pop music being introduced at middle school from different angles.The second part of this thesis includes questionnaire and complementary interview, through which we expect to explore truth such as the teaching notions, the teaching methods, music teachers' attitude towards pop music, how to teach effectively and what the obstacles in pop music teaching are.The questionnaire is adopted in key middle schools of Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Shangqiu. It works on issues such as the following problems with students as its subject: why they like pop music; what are their attitudes towards pop music; whither they are satisfied with teachers and teaching materials and what they learned from the pop music.
