Reading comprehension takes vital position in the second language acquisition of Chinese students. As the basic language skill, the training of reading ability is attached too much importance. However, under the influence of the traditional pedagogy, quite a few teachers' misunderstanding make many students put their stress on the learning of vocabulary and grammar, instead of searching for the profound causes of the errors.The theory of error analysis has always been one mainly methodology for second language acquisition. During the teaching of foreign languages, the errors of language made by the learners have always puzzled the both teachers and the students. The analysis of learners' error, not only can reveal some universal principles during the acquisition, but also can find the difficulties of learning and thus can improve the quality of teaching.Both quantitative and qualitative approaches are adopted to analyze the data in this thesis. The actualities in teaching English reading will be investigated and analyzed with the help of questionnaires and interviews. Based on the theory of error analysis, the author tries to analyze the Chinese senior students' errors committed especially in the process of reading comprehension, sort out and analyze the cause of errors, and discuss the revelation of the errors. The results show that the errors of lexical collocation, conjunction and reference have the highest frequency among other errors in reading comprehension. It aims to propound the scientific strategies and techniques, which could provide the reference so as to arouse the students' interest in reading and help them to form a good habit of reading strategies, to promote the current situation of the teaching of English reading. |
