This paper is an empirical economic study on the behavior of investing child education basing on the labor force shift and human capital theory. Through the questionnaire of 275 peasant workers we summarize each kind of educational investment behavior which the peasant workers make in different condition. And the Logit models were applied to determine factors influencing peasant workers' choice to invest child education.Descriptive analysis on peasant workers' choice indicates that: Looking from the macroscopic situation, the education is developing vigorously. The rural educational condition improves gradually, but still has many difficulties. Looking from the microscopic situation, regarding peasant workers in Nanjing, the choice of school place is mainly influenced by educational expenses. The majority families think that teachers' strength, the quality of teaching and the teaching facility in the urban school are better than the hometown, but expenditure in urban school is excessively for them, therefore they choose school in the hometown for their children. The country increases investment on rural compulsory education, which reduced the parents' burden of investment, and the educational outlay accounting for disbursement of the family proportion reduce. But the families which children were in the higher education stage have to pay more expenses than those children were in the compulsory education stage, so their investment burdens were still heavy. Parents cultural level has positive effsct on children's education wish, the children school record and children' educational attainment. But the behavior manifestes sex preferences.The findings of empirical research indicated, the children' sex has the significantly positive effect on the child educational attainment; the position, children' integer and the decision-making power for children education have significantly negative effect. Time length in Nanjing, parents' cultural level, children' sex and family income have the significantly positive effect on childrens' continuous education; the position, family scale have significantly negative effect.The position, parents' cultural level, future plan, children' sex and family income have significantly positive effect on childrens' educated channels; whether to have aged people in the hometown, the family scale has the significantly negative effect.
