Based on Hall's high-context and low-context theory and Hofstede' s cultural dimension, the thesis aims to study the relationship between cultural study and the effective improvement of oral English teaching in high schools.Starting from the reflection on current cultural-related problems in domestic oral English teaching in high schools, the author then carries out a comparative research on the three classes that she is teaching in Senior Grade One.The standard oral English tests taken before and after the research suggests that after the input of cultural studies, the students shows apparently stronger motivations in study, the interests of English have been aroused, and the understanding of culture deepened, thus the effectiveness of communicating in English has improved,so as the self-confidence.The results test the hypothesis:If teachers take some strategies to input cultural studies into oral English teaching in high school, the students' oral English and English communication skill will be effectively improved,so as to serve as a theoretical foundation and practical reference for quality education. On the basis, the thesis then provides with five strategies to effectively improve oral English teaching in high schools by incorporating cultural studies, namely, changing the misconception of oral English teaching, better improving personal English level and comprehensive qualities, diversifying teaching approaches, enhancing students' enthusiasm by cultural input and avoiding Chinglish in oral English. Because of the limitation of the experimental condition and the status of myself, the generalization of the results is limited.
