With China's entrance into WTO and successful sponsorship of the 29th Olympic Game, it is vital for China to train and provide a large number of highly-qualified bilingual talents for international community. Bilingual teaching is both the hot spot and direction of education reform in the education circle. Bilingual education, with a long history, has formed a relatively mature and comprehensive system in many countries and regions. It is publicly recognized by the foreign language teaching circle as a successful foreign language strategy. China's bilingual teaching appeared in recent years with a focus on practical exploration and related theoretical research. It provides a summary and introduction to foreign successful bilingual education but does not conform to China's special circumstances. Educational workers in China make positive investigation into bilingual teaching, hoping to discover its laws and find the model and curriculum system in line with China's real circumstances. Therefore, I start the research on this subject aiming to sum up the experience of Licang District Experimental Primary school in Qingdao, Shangdong province. I study the necessity and effective model of primary school bilingual teaching and provide examples for the teaching practice so as to make a personal contribution to the development of China's bilingual teaching. This paper carries on the research of bilingual teaching by taking as a case the Licang District Experimental Primary school. It contains five chapters: chapterl is an introduction; chapter2 offers an introduction to several basic concepts of bilingual teaching, its purpose at home and abroad, as well as its main models to lay a theoretical foundation for the whole paper. It also provides some clues for the practice in the following chapters; chapter3 is an analysis of the purpose and practice conditions; chapter4 specifically illustrates the practice process of the bilingual teaching at Licang District Experimental Primary school. It introduces the background, environment, teaching purpose and course design of the school, coupled with teachers' selection, textbook compiling, school course investigation. It also includes my experiments and views of the teaching practice of bilingual science courses. Chapter5 ends in a conclusion. At present, China's bilingual teaching is in the process of exploration without a comprehensive theoretical system and practice model. Many educational workers, actively exploring the bilingual teaching, have made considerable achievements and also found some problems. However, with the establishment of study-type society, China's bilingual teaching will certainly prosper with each passing day.
