With the rapid development of the country economy, the society needs more and more middle and advanced persons with the skilled ability from the vocational and technical school. The goverment has paid more attention to the development of vocational and technical education. However, the current status of vocational and technical schools is not so optimistic. As the remaining group after layer- upon- layer selection of various high schools, the students of vocational schools are lack of interest in mathematics. This paper gives an elementary study on how to enhance the mathematical interest of the students from vocational and technical schools and improve the teaching quality. The thesis is organized as follows: First, we state the importance of the vocational and technical education and the significance of learning mathematics, analyze the current status of vocational and technical schools. The absence of mathematics interest is one of the important reasons of impacting teaching quality. In chapter 2, some experts'researches on mathematics interest are introduced and some factors of influencing the students'interests in mathematics are given. Some methods to stimulate the interests in learning mathematics of the students of different grades are summarized. Chapter 3 introduces the methods and the framework of the research. In chapter 4, we investigate the requirement of mathematics lessons through different ways, such as questionnaires, interviews with students, special cases follow-up and in-depth interviews with professional teachers. We also interview the mathematical teachers of vocational and technical schools through internet and carry through follow-up study of the chosen classes. It needs every effort from different aspects, such as schools, textbooks, teachers, students and even society, to stimulate mathematical interest. Chapter 5 gives several ways to stimulate the interests in mathematics: First, the vocational and technical school should have the accurate position of the vocational function, carry out the reform of teaching, enhance the philosophy education of the students; Second, the teachers should adjust their teaching state; Third, the function of the mathematics curriculum for the vocational and technical school must be accurate. The teachers should seek the teaching methods to make mathematical study to be interesting and practical, such as combining with mathematical experiments. We finally present some expectations to be studied further.
