A teacher's mental health is most likely to determine the mental health and learning results of his/her students, as well as the quality of the teacher's own job and living. By means of questionnaire survey and conversations, this research involves 103 senior high school teachers in the area of Lianyungang surveyed with the self-report symptom checklist (SCL-90) and a self-made questionnaire, whose result shows that their relevant SCL-90 factor scores are generally 0.5 higher than the national conventional mode. In them the occurring rate of intermediate mental problems and worse is as high as 15.53%. Problems are most severe in terms of somatization, coercion, interpersonal relation, depression and anxiety. Among different groups of teachers, the mental health for male teachers are generally better than female teachers, and teachers who teach senior 3 and senior 2 are greatly affected by the college entrance exams and academic level tests which their students are to take. Psychological adjustments have to be done to those who are under various pressures. To improve teachers'mental health and lay a solid foundation for high school education, joint efforts by the teachers themselves, the schools and the society must be made, and people-oriented managements must be practiced in schools.
