Objective: To investigate accidental harm or/and injury and understanding of safety education in middle school students, and to provide scientific and objective data for the accidental harm or/and injury. Methods: 650 students were conveniently sampling from two middle school in Yanji City. Under strict quality control system, they were interviewed with questionnaire to look into their accidental injuries during the last year. Including frequency of injury occurred, categories of injury, time of injury occurred, and so on. T-test, Chi-square test, Logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: (1) About 85.4 percent of middle school students considered their school life was safety in Yanji City, there were difference between male students and female students significantly. The results suggested that male students dissatisfied with their safety. (2) The total injury incidence rate was 20.47%. The injury incidence rates were higher for male students (24.5%) than female students (17.03%). The difference was significant between male and female. The incidence rate of decreased with age increased, it was the top and kept the high level from 13 to 14 years old. (3) In school, the top three categories of injuries were fall injury (46.13%), alter injury (15.12%), PE injury (13.3%). The injury incidence rates caused by alter injury were difference between male and female significantly. At home, the top three categories of injuries was fall injury (46.78%), food poisoning injury (29.82%), gas leak injury (5.84%), The injury incidence rates caused by FP injury were difference between male and female significantly.(4) The mean scores of the health life styles in female students were better than male students.(5)The mean scores of the endanger behavior in female students were better than male students.(6) The Logistic regression analysis indicated that the accidental harm or/and injury was related with unprotect sex, matches and difficult deal anger .(7) About 77.9% middle school students considered safety education should be internalized in normal education plan and comprehensive course set up must be out. Conclusion: It was 20.45% that accidental injury incidence rates of middle school students in Yanji City. The injury incidence rates were higher for male students than female students. The accidental harm or/and injury was related with the health life styles and the endanger behavior. Most of students lacked of knowledge of accidental injuries. Safety and emergency education of safety knowledge for middle school students should strengthened.
