The Vocational Education is an important component of the modern education, and it's also the major pillar of the industrialization, the socialization of production and the modernization. Therefore it's regarded as the impetus of the socio-economic development and the enhancement of comprehensive national strength strategic action by many developped countries. In the 1990s, the significant breakthoughs on the United States of Vocational Education is the implementation of the transition from School to Work. This reform refers to the high unemployment rates of the youth . This brand-new research angle of view not only has made the contribution to the American vocational education theory but also to the world Vocational Education system.The thesis consists of three chapters.The first chapter is about the reasons of the U.S Vocational Education reform in the 1990s. First,I have reviewed the development process of the American Vocational Education. It can be divided into four stages,namely,before the World War II, after the World War II to the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s . The reform is mainly influenced by the following four factors, namely, the needs of the American economic development, the changes of the employment structure, the needs belonged to the survival and development of the enterprise ,as well as the vocational education itself exists some serious problems.The second chapter is about the U.S of Vocational Education reform contents in the 1990s. This chapter mainly from Vocational Education's plans of instruction(School-Based Learning,Work-Based Learning,Connecting Activities), the curriculums( integrating of school-based learning and work-based learning,Integrating of academic and vocational education and Integrating of secondary education and post-secondary education ), the practice patterns(Cooperative education,Youth Apprenticeship,Technical Preparation Programs) three aspects to introduce.The third chapter is about the U.S vocational education reform implementation situations, influences and questions in the 1990s. This chapter first introduces the implementation situation of the American vocational education reform , Second,I analyzes the positive influences on the students teachers and enterprises .Finally,I analyzes some questions which exists in the vocational education reform process.
