The present series of studies focused on three problems. Studyl: The participants were 822 undergraduates from 3 universities. They completed the Empathy Quotient (adapted by Simon&Sally, 2004). The characters of empathy in various subgroups of students were analyzed, such as gender and year differences. Study2: The participants were the same with the study one. Empathy as well as interpersonal relationship of the participants was measured in order to explore the relationship between empathy and inteipersonal relationship. Study 3: Selected 68 students from the positive participants. They were randomly allocated to intervention or control group. Empathy training was conducted only in intervention group. The conclusions of these three studies were as follow.1,Most college students' scores on Empathy Quotient are normal. There is sex discrepancy among the empathy ability of college students. The female students developed earlier than the male students. The year differences were significant in empathy. But there is no obvious discrepancy whether the student is singleton, whether he or she major in art or science subject and whether he or she comes from city or rural.2,The correlation between empathy and interpersonal relationship of college students is extremely notable.3,Empathy training could improve the empathy ability of undergraduates. This training also had temporarily effects on the inteipersonal relationship.
