Maria Montessori (Maria Montessori ,1870—1952)became renowned for the outstanding achievements of Casa dei Bambini, at the beginning of the 20th century. Montessori method was rapidly caught carried to everywhere in the world. That started a Montessori booming in the world and a massive international Montessori movement. Among this , the Montessori movement in the United States was the specialist one . Two women are responsible for this; Maria Montessori, herself and later Nancy McCormick Rambusch . They are the real story behind the history of Montessori education in the United States. The seeds of early childhood education that Montessori planted in America at the beginning of the twentieth century would blossom forty-five years later nurtured by Nancy McCormick Rambusch . Montessori method came to the United States in 1909. The Montessori movement in the United States had experienced from rise—decline—renaissance—new chapter, three different historical period from 1909 when the Montessori method first came to the United States to 2004. The first historical period is from 1909 to 1957 when the Montessori movement in the United States experienced from rise to decline . The second historical period is from 1958 to 1974 when is the rejuvenation of the Montessori Movement in the United States . The third historical period is from 1975 to 2004 when the Montessori Movement in the United States developed deep into the area of Public School in America. This paper attempts to find the historical reasons of the educational activities, through the historical phenomenon of the educational development. Author uses historiography to discuss in detail the rise and decline of the Montessori Movement as well as the reason for that in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century; and the renaissance of the Montessori Movement as well as the reason for that in the United States after World War II, and the new development of the Montessori Movement in the United States after 1975,as well as the challenges faced by the Montessori Movement in the United States in the 21st century . All that completely replay the history of the Montessori Movement in the United States in 20th century.
