Montessori education has become an important part of preschool education in China since it was introduced to China in 1913 after a century of global development.However,academic research on Montessori education is mostly at the theoretical level and regional individual case studies,and the current development status of Montessori education institutions nationwide has not been explored in depth.The public and parents’ perceptions of Montessori education are mostly limited to good facilities and high tuition fees,but they lack in-depth understanding of these institutions and their educational philosophy.Under the impact of the new crown epidemic,the series of internal and external problems of Montessori education institutions themselves have become more and more prominent nationwide,and the closure of institutions is common.What kind of problems have Montessori education institutions encountered in China? What is the future of such institutions? The study of this issue is of great practical significance.Based on a large amount of literature,this thesis systematically composes the theories related to Montessori education,clarifies people’s misunderstanding of Montessori education,and elucidates the value of Montessori education institutions.At the same time,we also interviewed four Montessori education institutions of different scales and types in Wuhan,and analyzed the current survival dilemma of Montessori education institutions,the causes and proposed a series of countermeasures for the future development of Montessori education institutions in China,taking into account the actual situation of preschool education institutions and preschool education policies in China.At the same time,the basic development status of Montessori education institutions in China is mastered through questionnaire survey.The principals and teachers of four Montessori education institutions of different sizes and types in Wuhan are interviewed.Combined with the actual situation of China’s preschool education institutions and preschool education policies,the current school running difficulties of Montessori education institutions are analyzed,including enrollment difficulties,teachers’ salary is not proportional to work pay Unstable policy environment and other issues.The main reasons are the instability and uncertainty of the policy,the singleness of the source of institutional funds,the insufficient popularization of Montessori education concept,the high tuition fees caused by the high cost and the insufficient reserve of the overall teachers.Through the overall scan of the development status of Montessori education in the country and the analysis and consideration of the development status of four Montessori education institutions in Wuhan,combined with the author’s work experience,the study finally proposes practical countermeasures in five aspects: the promotion of Montessori education philosophy,the improvement of the institutions’ own teaching level,the development of integrated education resources,and the cooperative training of teachers.
