Calculus is the foundation of modern mathematics. The employment of calculus at the stage of senior high school is not only required by society, economy, science and culture but also by the teaching target of cultivating mental poise, development and education. Although the importance of setting up the calculus was commonly acknowledged at the beginning of the foundation of the PRC, which was quite noteworthy, authorities have hesitated about the adoption of the course.Considered in the broad sense of the curriculum reform about the national foundation education, the author took "calculus", which has been disputed for several times in national mathematics teaching materials, as the research object. According to the latest requirements of calculus in senior mathematics in Standard of Maths Curriculum in Ordinary Senior High School(experimental) (hence after as "new standard")which was issued by the Minister of Education, People's republic of China in June, 2003, the author carried out a research of the educational value of "calculus" in senior high school.Focusing on the mathematics educational value, the author has offered detailed proof on intensive research of the value in calculus, using the historical and documentary research method. According to the comparative research on the retrospect of the past calculus course reform in senior high school in our nation and the implement of current national calculus course in senior high school, the author summed up the various mathematics reforms and the lacking of value concept in the process since the foundation of the PRC. Furthermore, the author provided from abroad the successful experience of value preference in calculus course.Based on the extensive study of value preference in "new standard", the author carried out a research on how to enhance the educational value in senior high school calculus. The thesis, combined with the constructive teaching approach, stressed on the calculus teaching request according to teaching concept, principle, methodology and teachers' qualification.In actual application, the thesis concentrated on the teaching designed research of "Derivative concept" in the module of Derivative and its Application in Elective course II of the "new standard". And it clarified the possibility of the above-mentioned theories according to the research as an expectation of providing a beneficial reference for the next curriculum reform.
