Education is the cornerstone of a nation, a cause concerning and benefiting every citizen and their children; it is something of vital importance, and our nation cannot do without it if it is to endure. Fairness in education is one of the bases of societal fairness, one that is closely related to the healthy growth of an individual, and to the welfare of the people in general. In the 17th National Assembly, education is accorded the first priority with a view to building up a power of rich human resources.Fairness in education is not absolute but relative; it means fairness in the starting point, in the process and the results shown. It, in it real sense, refers to a proper education most suitable for each individual and their development, without necessarily making sure that each individual has the same educational opportunities under the same educational mode. Education is one of the chief locomotives that power a nation's development; it is also an indispensable component for the societal fairness to be achieved. If that fairness is not to be made sure, more unfairness could be found in a society, let alone rectifying the unfair practices. Fairness in education not only enables the citizens to enjoy equal opportunities in education, but it helps produce many more qualified individuals for the progress and development of our nation. It cannot be denied that there exists an imbalance in education between different regions, groups and classes, so a proper path to fairness in education should be one that treats education a public service rather than an industry; that tries to strike a balance rather than too much attention to a particular district or a particular area of study.
