Pan Guangdan is a distinguished Chinese sociologist, ethnologist, educationalist and translator, whose profound knowledge expands to cover both the East and the West. The theory of Weiyu is his most brilliant thought on moral education. Pan Guangdan considers that everything in the world should seek Weiyu which means not only the adapdation and coordination between living things and environment, but the accommodation among the society, history and culture. For the educatee---man, Weiyu means a man should make himself or herself coexist harmoniously with the nature, society, history and culture.The essay regards Weiyu as the theory core and stresses the idea of a university of general education and moral thoughts of full personality. The three ones are interconnected and can supplement each other. The aim of the moral education of a university is to make students seek their Weiyu on moral education. To achieve the aim, the university should stress the idea of a university of general education and moral thoughts of full personality. Moral thoughts of full personality stresses the education in a university should pay much attention to cultivating students'full personality. To achieve the most important aim on moral education, the university should establish the idea of a university of general education which will make students not only understand and digest the knowledge in order to make themselves acquainted with both arts and science subjects, but learn how to be a human being, how to live peacefully with other people and how to make the unity of knowledge and personality.Pan Guangdan's education background, which mingles of East-West and covers arts and science subjects, is the significant basis in the process of forming his unique moral thoughts of a university. He placed his moral thoughts of a university upon the extensive knowledge background which covers the biology and sciology. In comparison with the moral thoughts of Herbert Spencer, Cai Yuanpei and Mei Yiqi, Pan Guangdan's moral thoughts of a university is an originality innovation which inherits and transcends their moral thoughts. Therefore, he was before his time with moral thoughts of a university which have important significance and value. Until today, Pan Guangdan's moral thoughts of a university still contribute some important advice to our present moral education in a university. Our present moral education in a university should pay attention to cultivating the humanistic spirit, stress the idea of a university of general education, build up harmonious relationship between teachers and students, and adhere to moral idea about how to be a human being and increase students'self-education ability.
