The common method of the mathematics problem solving (short of the Common Way) is an ordinary (popular, general) solution of a kind of question. From the implication and the characteristic of common method of the mathematics problem solving, we can discern that the common method always come from the basic concept and principle, take the basic knowledge as dependence, and take the essential method as the technical ability, according to established steps, promotes the question and the explanation gradually. The solution ideas follow the general rules of thinking; it's easy to grasp concrete operations process for the most students. The Common Method is naturally, smoothly, easy to understand, to grasp and to utilize, its thinking mode Actually is the strategic thinking, and cultivating the strategic thinking is the outset, massive, and foundational teaching goal in teaching. Procession moderately has advantageous to the Positive transfer migrates, and may cause the student to form the good thinking orientation, could develop general intelligence.Regardless of being the teaching or studies, we should bring the essence of the mathematics understanding, and the Common Method is the problem solving method, which precisely most directs manifests mathematics thought, therefore it's necessary to be researched. There is a modern mathematics teaching idea proposes in the high school mathematics curriculum standard: Must keep pace with the times know the basic knowledge and basic techniques must emphasize understanding to mathematics essence, pays attention to the moderate formalization. The common method of the mathematics problem solving is systematically infiltrated and trained in teaching, and let the students grasp the skills in the study process of the knowledge and the skill. It will certainly to play the influential role to the enhancement of mathematics education quality. The Common Method is so important that the students should be helped to grasp the general characteristic and the common way, to learn the valuable mathematics, and to achieve the goal of understanding mathematics essence.This research has two main line, the one is the research in the theoretical level, and the other is the research in the practice level. Mainly has utilized the methods of by interviews and literatures, according to interview and the investigation of middle school practical teachers and the high school students, obtains the teachers and students'understanding degree to the common method of the mathematics problem solving. The conclusion is that many teachers do not take the common method seriously; and, many of our students also do not understand the importance of the Common Method, and have many questions to understand the Common Method. Even some students replied that had not heard"the Common Method"in the teaching of Math. Therefore we hoped that teachers and students enhance the important understanding of the Common Method, and work hard in the understanding of the mathematics essence in the learning process, thus improve their problem solving ability.
