English teaching of primary schools and junior schools are two stages of basic education which come true in one line. But with the further development of English teaching of primary schools, the connection of English teaching is more and more outstanding. And quite a few students have begun to dislike English when they begin to study English at junior schools. What's worse, some Junior One students quit the chance of learning English. This kind of polarization gives us a hint ---- we must solve the problem of connection of English teaching. That is a task which brooks no delay. Then , many more students will be fond of learning English and even learning more English, so that we can improve the teaching quality in an over-round way.English Course Standard (experiment draft) of our country made by National Ministry of Education was announced formally in 2001. It advanced the brand-new education ideas and tasks of the basic English courses according the ideas. Its final aims are to help the students understand the world and the discrepancy in the cultures between the east and the west, expand their careers and futures, cultivate the spirit of patriotism, form the wholesome outlook on life and lay a good foundation for their lifelong studies. Therefore, How to follow the brand-new education ideas and put the reasonable and effective teaching methods into practice, so that we can make the students at different levels realize the connection of English studying .This is the question that English educators of junior middle schools and primary schools must think about .The junior middle schools of Harbin began to use EEC Junior English in the autumn in 2004. This set of textbooks is based on EEC Primary English according to both the knowledge learning and the grammatical system. But Junior English teachers meet the primary graduators who can't accept the tasks that the teachers offer them every September . Taking the theory of Social Constructivism, Multiple intelligences, Metacognition and New Course Standard as the theory bases, through the investigations into the connection of the English teaching of the primary and junior middle schools in Harbin , this research is analyzed the current situation of it and the reasons of existing problems : EEC textbooks has changed several times and can't offer the complete knowledge system ; the teachers of primary schools and junior middle schools should improve their aptitude for language teaching to match the connecting education ; the teachers of primary and junior middle schools need to share each other's views necessarily ;the students are tired and afraid of learning English; the departments of educational administration can't manage in unison; the lack of the integrate evaluation , etc . We also expound the ways and countermeasures from many aspects in order to solve the problems .The connection of English teaching is a big problem which can affect the quality of English teaching . We need to explore and think together, try to practice more and more effective methods. Then realize the continuity of English teaching of the primary schools and junior middle schools.
