In this information-based society of 21st century, it is prerequisite of success to master information technology. Our country pays great attention to the education of information technology. In October of 2000, Ministry of Education held a meeting about the education of information technology in the secondary and primary schools, and issued three important documents such as on the popularization of information technology in the secondary and primary schools, on the inter-communication of the secondary and primary schools, and new edition of the instructing program of information technology courses in the secondary and primary schools. Since 2001, in the time of 5-10 years, the popularization of information technology will be taken into effect. In order to get knowledge of the present situation of education of information technology in primary schools in Harbin and its outskirts, the author surveys 18 classes of 9 primary schools .On the basis of it, the author analyzes and summarizes the present situation and puts forward some instructive suggestions.The dissertation summarizes the character, purpose and present situation of the education of information technology in primary schools. It summarizes the studies of related field, and illustrates the research methods and samples of the survey. It illustrates the purpose of every question in the questionnaire, summarizes the related data and analyzes the present situation. On the basis of the survey, the author puts forward some advice, points out the weaknesses and foreground of the field.
