The concept of linguistic sense was put forward at the beginning of 20th century and linguistic sense teaching and study become the hot point in Chinese teaching after 1980s. In recent years, a great change has taken place under the spirits of the Standard of Chinese Courses in the full-time compulsory schooling in Chinese teaching in the primary school. Teaching ideas, which have come into being for long years, are experiencing a change into the unity of the character of tool and the character of humanism. In the process of the change, we had better to use the training of linguistic sense as the breach. The thesis focuses on the characters of linguistic sense and carries out a probe into the theory and practice on how to train students'linguistic sense in the primary Chinese teaching.Linguistic sense belongs to linguistic psychological category. Many studies give linguistic sense the definitions from the different point of view. In my opinion, we should master the essential characters in this way: linguistic sense is the comprehensive reflection of the abilities of right understanding and impression to language in long and regular parole activities.Linguistic sense teaching is a strategy of Chinese teaching. Under the spirits of the Standard of Chinese Courses in the full-time compulsory schooling, the linguistic sense teaching has the practical significance to improve Chinese accomplishment of the students in the primary school.The basic characteristics of the linguistic sense are the focus of understanding and mastering linguistic sense deeply and comprehensively and also the prerequisite of knowing and using the linguistic sense. Only by understanding and s tudying the characters of the linguistic sense can we carry out Chinese teaching effectively in Chinese teaching in the primary school. Only in this way can we develop the ability of the students in the linguistic sense. We should train the linguistic sense of the students in the different stages according to the basic characters of linguistic sense. Though the six years in the primary school are called children period by a joint name, the psychological characteristics and the levels of language of the students in the lower, middle and high stages are different. The Chinese teaching in the elementary school is the first stage to training the students to learning the mother tongue regularly. The linguistic sense teaching plays an indispensable role in the Chinese teaching in the primary school. The aims and ways of linguistic teaching in the different learning stages in the primary school are different.
