In recent years, the higher education in China has made great progress. The scale of higher education has been getting larger increasingly and constantly at a high speed. However, teaching quality of higher education is now facing a great challenge. According to the present situation of higher education, the Ministry of Education of PRC has set up a five-year-round undergraduate teaching evaluation system to strengthen the management of undergraduate teaching to improve its quality. Under the background of the exterior evaluation and considering their own need for quality, some universities have constructed the internal teaching evaluation system, and have made some helpful attempts.This paper, by taking university Y as the object of the case study and making a thorough and careful research on the process of its internal teaching evaluation by means of field research, observation, questionnaire and interview, offers a true picture of university internal teaching evaluation situation. This research, trying to break through the traditional thought and concept of pure speculative research and experience empirical research, and on the basis of grasping a large number of phenomena, provides a space for understanding and criticism to construct a synthesis phenomenology model and critique model school development theory and educational administration theory. From the different perspectives of managers, directors, teachers and students etc., with the achievements that the internal teaching evaluation has made affirmed, the researcher reflects on several disputed questions such as the evaluation's main body, team, index, and culture. Based on that, the author puts forward the future trend of the internal teaching evaluation, that is, to strengthen the construction of the evaluation culture so as to improve the appraisal social environment, to heighten classified instruction in order to show university characteristics, to adjust the evaluation's key point to student's development, and to construct a two-level quality safeguard system between university and its schools to implement a constant and effective management. |
