Being essential to theories of modern English teaching, multiple intelligences theory stresses on students' individual differences and development, training of students' multiple intelligences, and curriculum reform. This corresponds to the notion of quality education vigorously practiced nowadays. For long, this theory is not only favored in the field of teaching of world education studies, but also widely applied in language teaching. The development of multiple intelligences in students has become a 21st-century trend of English teaching reform. In present situation of secondary school English teaching, however, the teaching objectives are blurred by the test-oriented English teaching. As a result, many teachers focus only on transmitting English knowledge and training language skills in their teaching process. While they pay more attention to the cultivation of students' language intelligence, they seriously neglect the development of the other intelligences of students. This results in a very barren uninteresting classroom English teaching, and very few students may have any successful experience. They gradually lose interest and confidence in English learning. This situation brings forth very negative effects, hence poor quality of English teaching. This paper takes secondary English (Jiangsu Oxford version) as a breaking-through point, so as to seek a renovated and efficient way of classroom teaching and to have a wider application of the theory.
