Since Freudenberger (American clinical psychologist) brought forward Job burnout in 1974, it has been a study focus in Psychology. Researcher's in-countries and over-seas have been focusing on job burnout among psychological counselors. With the development of School Psychology, school psychological counselors are increasing rapidly; they become independent and have more and more influence on society. In the context of this, it makes much sense to study Job burnout among School psychological Counselors in our country.This study is to explore the prevalence and extent of school counselors' job burnout, and find out which factors can influence the job burnout, such as demographics characters, work-related factors. Moreover, it also explores the relationship among health hardiness, humor styles and Job burnout. On the basis of literature analysis, this research collects 510 subjects' information about Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory (CMBI), the Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ), Health-Related Hardiness Scale, (HRHS), and their demographics characters, work-related factors. At the same time, this study chose 830 teachers and 178 psychological counselors as a group of reference, evaluating the prevalence and extent of their job burnout.The results are below: 1.The prevalence and extent of occupational burnout among school counselors is lower than the average of that among other human profession workers. There is lower emotion burnout in school counselors, but higher personality desegregations and personal achievement sense. It is different from the research results over-seas. 2. In the demographics characters, gender, single or married, age, work age and educational degree all associate with school counselors' job burnout; professional background has no influence on it. 3. In the work-related factors, work character, school character, workload and income all associate with job burnout. 4. Positive personality is negative correlation with job burnout; health diligence and humor are positive forecast factors to job burnout.On the basis of quantity research, this study interviewed 9 school psychological counselors using case study, finding out what they know about occupational burnout, how the burnout develop, what they feel when are in burnout. Besides, this paper also explored many factors influenced job burnout and how to prevent and intervene when school counselors were in burnout.On the results of quantity and quality researches, this study forecasted the trend of school psychological counselors' occupational burnout, and tabled feasible proposals for promoting their career health.The characteristic of this study is using a large sample to fill out the inventory, and comparing the job burnout among school psychological counselors, teachers and social psychological counselors, further more, discussing in detail about the demographics characters, work-related factors of job burnout, about the relation between positive personality and job burnout, such as health diligences and humor. At the last part of this paper, it uses the case study to make up the quantity's shortage. |
