The Differentiation Of An One-son Family In Rural Area

The issue of one-son family study in rural society has always been at the brim of rural family study. From the perspective of rural family differentiation,the paper probes into the overview of one-son family in rural China through an one-son family in the South of Shanxi province .For this,the paper tries to understand how the differentiation of a common one-son family occur. Based on the historical analysis,this paper divides the family differentiation into three periods: family affairs division, family space division and family property division,and also describe present situation and intergeneration desires of each period and interpret the problems appearing inside. At last, this paper analysis the arragement of old support in one-son family. When analyzing the logic of the differentiation of one-son family ,it imports two factors ,single and son,namely uniqueness and minism.The family differntiation starts with division in family affairs ,and division of family space accelerates it. Because of its convenience and adaptability the separate-kitchen and separate-living and will become the most possible trends in one-son family differentiation. From the situation of individual case, there are similar desires regarding the issue of share-kitchen,separate-kitchen and separate-living about one family. In essence, there is no disagreement with the priority of family affair. Separate-kitchen and separate-living have produced positive effect obviously before old people forfeited their working capacity,although they also cause divisions of family support,family network and family distribution. The property division stands for a completion of family differentiation,and the old support arrangement always the incident through the whole family life. The most important logic in one-son family is that he inherite parents'property inclusivly and monoply the obligations of maintening them.Due to the division of household have little chance occuring in one-son family, there isn't certain incident to distribute family property and arrange care for the old,which lead to the uncertainty of family property assignment and competition for ownership between intergeneration.Therefor,the property arrangement become the main factor of causing family confliction. The desires of oligation between generations is uneven, which has a large impact on the old-support arrangement in one-son family. The old in one-son family expect that they will be able to acquire support from their child through providing support and temptation of family property, which is not optimistic in theory, however, enhancing emotional communication and intensifying code of ethics are more feasible.
