Along with the continuous deepening of reform and openingpolicy and accelerating process of urbanization, industrial structure of Yongchun County promotes unceasingly and requires that workers must have higher educational level and work skills. It ever highlights limitation of low science and culture quality for the majority farmers. Many farmers also gradually realizes that they need to accept adult education if they want to engage in an ideal occupation, adapt to the new life-style and work environment and fulfill oneself. Although having one technical school, one adult specialized middle school and four vocational middle school, rural adult education in Yongchun County exists many problems such as insufficient investment, deficient teachers resource, obsolete content, bad effect and neglection of relevant departments. Many farmers are worried about the effectiveness of adult education, which in turn affects their employment. In such case, researches on the costs and benefits of rural adult education, becomes very urgent and important.This research investigated 83 farmers of 8 villages in Yongchun County, gathered their data of education costs and benefits. Then it takes theories and methods of Education Economics as research framework, expoundes the economic cost, benefits and economic benefits seperately, then carries on the cost-benefit analysis of rural adult education in Yongchun County correspondently.As to rural adult education, many experts and scholars paid more attention to present situations, problems, function, status, development trends and foreign rural adult education, etc . Research methods are mainly theoretical research, comparative study, investigation report, current affairs comment and research report. Quantitative research methods are used very rare. In view of quantitative research methods is not mature in the area of rural adult education, this paper takes Yongchun County as an example for trial study to check the feasibility of quantitative research methods.Data and other information of this study mainly stem from investigation data and Statistical Yearbook. Restricted by time and funds, the field of investigation just concluded 8 villages of 8 towns in Yongchun County. This research mainly refers to the costs and expected benefits of accepting adult education in these areas, and the reasons that they didn't participate in adult education, influencing factors and wishes.This study is mainly divided into five parts: development status of rural adult education in Yongchun County, estimation of the costs of rural adult education in Yongchun County, estimation of the benefits of rural adult education in Yongchun County, the cost-benefit analysis of the benefits of rural adult education in Yongchun County, research conclusions and policy proposals.As to the research methods, this research mainly uses comparative analysis method to describe and analyse the development status of rural adult education in Fujian Province and Yongchun County, then uses empirical method to analyse the education costs and benefits. In the proposals to develop rural adult education in Yongchun County, this research mainly takes qualitative analysis and the actual investigation, supplemented by the relevant theoretical analysis. Research methods of other chapters are mainly qualitative analysis.
