In 1983, Howard ? Gardner published a book "Frames of Mind" which symbolizes the beginning of the study of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences. According to statistics, at least 15 countries around the world are engaged in the study of the Theory of Multiple Intelligences. According to Gardner, in addition to Verbal/Linguistic Intelligence and Logic/Mathematical Intelligence, there are seven other kinds of intelligence: Visual/spatial Intelligence, Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence, Musical/Rhythmic Intelligence, Interpersonal Intelligence, Intrapersonal Intelligence, Naturalist Intelligence and Existential Intelligence. The Theory of Multiple Intelligences stresses that everyone has a range of relatively independent intelligences, which show different combinations of individual intelligence. Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences provided the powerful support for differentia teaching. The domestic research into the Theory of Multiple Intelligences and differentia teaching pays relatively less attention to the basic theory of differentia teaching strategies. Hua Guodong conducted a further study on how to teach students with individual differences. In his point of view, the differentia teaching refers to the teaching which is based on the differences and satisfies the special requirement of individual student so that every student can improve a lot in his study."Outline for the Reform of Basic Education Curriculum" pointed out,"Teachers should respect the personality differences to meet the different needs of students so that all students can make great progress."However, the traditional teaching mode is carried out with the same targets of teaching, teaching methods, teaching requirements, as well as the same teaching model. As a result, the individual differences of students are seriously neglected. With the rapid expanding of the scale of senior high school, this problem seems to be more serious especially in English learning. To solve this problem, teachers must turn to a new teaching model---differentia teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences, that is, teachers should take into account the different needs of students, using various strategies, a flexible variety of teaching methods. This paper will lay emphasis on how to carry out the differentia teaching based on the theory of multiple intelligences through the strategies of English teaching in and outside the classroom, independent learning strategies, cooperative learning strategies and emotional teaching strategies so as to achieve a fair education. I believe this study will be of great help for English Teaching in senior high school.
