A Study Of Educational Cost In Universities And Colleges

With the implementation of Mass Popularization of Higher Education in China and the unprecedented attention from the society, colleges and universities have obtained favorable external environment and development space. Meanwhile, thanks to development of China's Market Economy, colleges and universities are experiencing competitions and challenges. The competition needs high-quality talent from school, which also want well-qualified teaching staff, good hardware and software facilities. The basis of those is capital. The idea that education is subject to consumption and school is non-profit organization has controlled people's thinking for a long time. It result the absence of motivation for increasing the full usage of educational resources and lack the extrinsic pressure to increase the efficiency. The coexistence of budget shortage and the waste of money sharpened the problem of education budget insufficiency in colleges and universities. Facing to the horrible situation that the persistent budget shortage for higher education and the low utilization rate for education resource, many colleges and universities have made theoretical research and practical exploration on education cost management, and have made much achievement. However, the study and research on cost control, as a sector of management process, haven't received much concern. With our further comprehension on education, efficiency and benefit, the necessity and impendency to research and discussion on cost control come into being. The educational cost control is not only the important parts of university's management, but also the important links of university's financial administration.This paper probes this issue from four respects, following as: Chapter One is the introduction;Chapter Two defines the content of higher education cost control;Chapter Three analyses the problem of higher education cost control and the reason, and;Chapter Four finds several methods and means to the higher education cost control.After digging out the four main respects, the writer provides the theoretic support and practice directions to solve the problems, i.e., lack of cost conscious, ineffective distribution of resources, having no capacity to get exact information of education cost, absence of cost control. The ways could make higher education develop in a healthy way continuously.
